Her mother is Filipina as is her father, and she is of Irish as well as Scottish roots. Mitchell is the cousin of Lea Salonga, the renowned musical theater actor and singer. Mitchell went to Rockridge Secondary for her early years before going to West Vancouver Secondary. In her late teen years she worked for several modeling companies around the world. The trip took her through Barcelona Bangkok Hong Kong before getting back to Toronto and pursuing her studies in the art of acting at Toronto.
