Maureen Denise McCormick, youngest daughter and sole daughter of Richard McCormick and Irene McCormick, was born in Woodland Hills on 5 August 1956. The mother was also a housekeeper. At the age of 6, she won a contest called Baby Miss San Fernando Valley. The Jack Wormser Agency then contacted her and asked whether she would like to enter the show business. McCormick received her first major break in 1964. McCormick was a part of the commercial on television for Mattel's "Baby Pattaburp,"" which was Mattel's latest doll. In the following year, she appeared in a second commercial for the company's "Chatty the Cathy" doll, and soon was included in the show"Wind It up and It is Broken, performed in the Playhouse at The La Jolla Playhouse. McCormick was the eldest of three girls with two heads in the TV show The Brady Bunch. Florence Henderson was the main character as well as Robert Reed was the father. The show ran for 5 years. McCormick disclosed in the book Here's the story of her life: Resurrected Marcia Brady, and Finding My True Voice (published 2008) that it was her fifth-season of the TV show that she nearly lost her virginity. She was just 16 years old old and the actor was 19, at that moment. She said that "it was likely to have happened" but the timing wasn't just right.
